Back-to-backs. 31 comments

Not counting what the Royals have done this year and last year, in the last thirty years, six teams have been to back-to-back World Series. Five of those six won at least one championship.

Oakland made it into the World Series three years in a row, in 1988, ’89 and ’90, and won it in 1989.

Toronto made it in in 1993 and ’94, and won both years.

Atlanta made it in in ’95 and ’96. They won in 1995.

The New York Yankees made it in in ’98, ’99, ’00 and ’01. Won it in ’98, ’99 and ’00.

Philadelphia made it in in ’08 and ’09, and won it in 2008.

And then there is the Rangers. The only team to repeat and not win.

If past performance is any indicator, chances are pretty good this is the Royals year.
