Beware the Odors of March.

What’s the old saying? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me five years in a row, please don’t work in the Rangers front office.

Those words ring loudly again this spring. As Rougned Odor was rounding the bases after slugging his two-run home run in the first inning of yesterday’s game, Rangers announcer Jarred Sandler sent out the warning flare when he reminded listeners not to get too excited about this.

As he said, “Rougned hits just two months a year. In March and July. The Rangers hope they can get him to hit the other months.”

That prompted a check on Odor’s spring numbers compared to the numbers he went on to put up during the season.

Spring is pyrite. Fool’s gold. Spring numbers mean nothing. Never ever forget that.
