Butler now a free agent. 4 comments

As reported in the Dallas Morning News, right-handed reliever Eddie Butler rejected his assignment to the minor leagues and instead chose free agency. Butler was one of three players acquired from Chicago in the Cole Hamels deal.

His time in Texas wasn’t the stuff of highlight reels.┬áIn 32 innings, he allowed 57 baserunners and a 6.47 ERA.

The other two players the Rangers acquired are still in the system: Rollie Lacy, a 23-year-old right-handed pitchers, and Alexander Ovalles, an 18-year-old outfielder.

Yes, Kev, in this case, “The Butler didn’t do it”. Or he didn’t get the job done anyway. I wish him well, but obviously he was no big loss.
Do you think any team will actually offer him a big league contract though?

Not to early for HOF chatter…..Rivera and Halladay first ballots. Edgar has a real good chance and Mussina next. Don’t see anyone else.
