Chi Chi earns a rotation spot. 292 comments

Spring is about proving oneself and destiny and punching tickets.

Chi Chi Gonzalez proved he cannot be trusted to be a major league starting pitcher. And he punched a one-way ticket from Phoenix to Austin. Don’t look for him making the trip back north to Arlington once the season starts. His destiny is a guy who just didn’t have what it took. The road to the Hall-of-Fame is littered with guys who never fulfilled their potential.

Chi Chi continues dropping his meat in the dirt every opportunity he gets. At least his latest struggle didn’t count. But it was tough to watch, just the same. Seven earned runs in two-and-two-thirds innings to raise his ERA to 9.39.

He is the opposite of an innings eater. He’s a bullpen consumer.

Round Rock better have a deep pen. They are going to need it every five days.
