DeShields cut.

The second Delino DeShields era is over. The Rangers have told DeShields he will not be on their opening day roster.

That’s not much of a surprise. What was a surprise was why they signed him in the first place. He is not a young player, or even a particularly good player. He’s a lifetime .246 hitter with some speed and unimpressive defense.

You can shake a tree and find six more players just like that.

So now, the twenty-eight-year-old outfielder will probably ask for his release so he can catch on with another team. He still has something to offer, just not to the Rangers at the point where they are now.

Good luck, Delino.
