A last-minute addition to the lineup in place of Rougned Odor, Isiah Kiner-Falefa went 3-for-3 with two doubles.

The Rangers broke their all-time record for consecutive wins in the 2018 season with four in last night’s 4-1 win over the Royals.

But that wasn’t the story.

It was that the Rangers made a sudden move to send Yohander Mendez back to Triple-A following what has been reported as a “team rules violation.” Also swept up in the drama was second baseman Rougned Odor, who was a last-minute scratch from last night’s lineup. Instead, Isiah Kiner-Falefa was inserted in his place. All he did was what is called offense, something Odor has been incapable of the last year and a half.

Everyone, of course, is tight lipped about what happened. You have to hope it was nothing like what happened with Odor’s younger brother, also in the Rangers organization.

So for now, the Rangers are going to have to try to manage without Mendez and his 14.73 ERA, and maybe without Odor and his .217 average. And his home run. Where are the Rangers supposed to make up for that kind of power in his absence?

This team is in serious jeopardy of not losing 100 games if they lose Odor for any extended period of time.

With a four-game winning streak, the news surrounding this club has been positive.

Mendez and Odor being gone for any length of time is cause for genuine giddiness.
