Fifty was nifty.

The Rangers mob Danny Santana after his two-out single drives in the winning run.

Are the Rangers for real?

Yes.

How do you know for sure?

You can’t keep a good team down. And you cannot keep this team from coming back. They may not always come all the way back but this team has absolutely no quit in it.

Win or lose, baseball in Rangers nation is fun again.

This was a game the Astros had chalked up. They lit the ceremonial cigar. A four-run lead with their second ace on the mound, who had racked up thirteen strikeouts. And a bullpen that was pretty much unhittable for lefthanded hitters.

But none of that mattered. The Rangers chipped away. And chipped away. And then walked away with a win.

Now they are 2-0 in their monster schedule. With Mike Minor going today. And Hunter Pence due back anytime, maybe even today.

The Rangers have so many ways to beat you offensively. Last night they pulled out all their tricks. Home runs. Timely steals. Defense. Clutch hitting.

Win number fifty sent the stunned Astros home losing 9-8. That felt good.

You can’t keep a good team down. If only they had another quality starter.
