Hard to watch.

Some images are hard to watch. Seeing Willie Calhoun lying on the ground for nearly ten minutes after a 95-mile-per-hour fastball broke his jaw was gut wrenching.

The game meant nothing. The Rangers won the game. They lost something far more important. Texas probably lost its left fielder for the foreseeable future.

After years of being shuttled back and forth between Triple-A and the major leagues, Calhoun had finally earned an every day starting assignment in left field. For the first time in his career he was coming into camp assured a job.

He will still have it, of course. But, now, his season will be delayed while his fractured jaw heals. There is a chance this won’t keep him out for long. He sees a doctor about it today for further examination. But the Rangers tend to not be lucky in the length of injury department.

Let’s hope Calhoun catches a break and isn’t out for long. Not likely. But, you have to feel for the kid.

Good luck, Willie. Everyone in Rangers nation is pulling for a speedy recover.
