The Rangers played two games yesterday. And a mind game.

The main game was against Seattle. They lost that 7-3.

But as is so often the case early spring when teams have a lot of players and a limited amount of innings, the Rangers had a B game as well. They won that one 5-3 agains the Chicago White Sox.

The head game how they treated Martin Perez.

To avoid over-exposing Perez to division rival Seattle, who he will probably face twice in the early going, the Rangers had him start the B game. Seattle, on the other hand, decided to let Hisashi Iwakuma face Texas, even though he is expected to face the Rangers twice himself in the first few weeks.

It will be interesting to see which strategy pays off.
