More self-congratulatoriness. 45 comments

No industry honors itself more than Hollywood. Baseball is threatening to be a close second.

After announcing the Gold Glove Award winners on Tuesday, now they announce their Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Okay.

They named a players at each position. They named an overall best defensive player (Minnesota’s Byron Buxton) and a best defensive team (Los Angeles Dodgers).

As you are aware being a Rangers fan, defense doesn’t matter to the Texas front office, so these awards mean nothing around these parts.

We will slog through with our Lead Glove winners DeShields and Mazara and Odor and Andrus and Calhoun and Choo.

As the old saying goes, “Defense wins championships; the Rangers don’t.”
