Out manned. 56 comments

After the second batter he faced homered, it looked like it was going to be another long day for Drew Hutchinson. Especially when the Yankees scored again immediately after that.

Hutchinson never had a one-two-three inning, but he kept getting off the hook, which is the sign of a guy who doesn’t panic.

He wasn’t sharp, but he kept the Rangers in the game. Unfortunately, the Rangers don’t have the bullpen pieces to keep them in the game. And once Hutchinson left down 2-1, the pen immediately made it 3-1.

Then Chris Martin couldn’t contain the Yankees after that.

While a loss is a loss, this one didn’t feel like the Rangers were so outmanned. The Yankees are the far better team, but the Rangers didn’t play intimidated. They simply don’t have the talent to match up in critical areas.

All in all, this has turned out to be a fun team to watch lately. They are still going through growing pains. You can’t expect a franchise to have pitching after just 46 seasons. These things take time.

But it would be nice if this team could run out a pitching staff that was anywhere near as worthy of their offense.
