You have to give the Rangers credit. They come up with more ways to disappoint. Last night, they collected six extra-base hits. Five doubles and a triple. It wasn’t enough.
They started the game with a triple, then a double. All they got out of a golden opportunity was two runs.
First and third in the second. Nothing.
Leadoff single in the third. Nothing.
Back-to-back doubles to begin the fourth to score a run. Then, nothing.
Double in the fifth. Nothing.
Double to lead off the seventh. First and third with one out. Nothing.
The Rangers picked up twelve hits, half of them for extra bases, which is usually the catalyst for big innings. For this team, it meant nothing.
It’s always one step forward, two steps backward.
We’re getting to late June. We’re getting too late.
