Awards season.

And the award for The First Injury of the Spring goes to…

Robert Garcia, with “minor nerve irritation” to his left forearm. The Rangers stressed that it’s not considered serious and he should miss only a couple days. Rangers fans have seen this movie before. Like “It’s A Wonderful Life” during the holidays, that excuse is overplayed.

Garcia, you will recall, was the return the Rangers received for Nathanial Lowe. It certainly didn’t achieve the Luca Doncic level of “What The What?” which that ruinous Mavericks trade elicited, but when the Rangers traded crowd favorite Lowe for a nondescript middle reliever, there was a palpable thud. If a question mark makes a sound, that was it.

Garcia may very well turn out to be a great trade for the Rangers. He may end up being the Rangers closer. He may end up throwing the last pitch in the 2025 World Series.

Or, he may very well need Tommy John surgery.

As stated earlier, Rangers fans have seen this movie before.
