When things are going bad for a player, it seems like misfortune finds them no matter where they are hiding.
Right now, Robert Garcia cannot hide. Yesterday he gave up the game-losing home run in the Rangers 302 loss to the Yankees. But Garcia’s woes haven’t been a recent occurrence. Yes, he’s the losing pitching in his last two appearances and has a blown save in the one before that. But since June 1 he has a 4.55 ERA with five losses, four blown saves and only six saves in twenty-two appearances.
That same bad mojo that was stuck on Joc Pederson for four months seems to be hovering over Robert Garcia. Pederson seems to be finding his way out of the wilderness, going 5-for-his-last-13.
Garcia needs to find that light. With the new arms the Rangers got for their pen, and the arms that have been performing all season, does Garcia’s role get diminished?
The situations this time of the season are getting more critical. Can the Rangers continue running him out there when it matters?
