Cupboard is bare.

In a bit of levity, or just an inability to read a room,
the Texas Rangers actually sent this to its fans.

The ballot for the All-Star game is out.

What a difference a couple years makes. In 2023, the Rangers had five position players start the All-Star Game—at catcher, second, short, third, and right.

This year, the Rangers will have none. Not even close.

Jonah Heim batted .282 in the first half of 2023, with an .812 OPS. Marcus Semien: .271/.775. Corey Seager: .353/1.026. Josh Jung: .280/.835. Adolis Garcia: .261/.848.

My how the mighty have fallen.

So far in 2025, here are their numbers. Heim: .238/.662. Semien: .210/.606. Seager: .252/.727. Jung: .263/.725. Garcia: .213/.625.

The numbers haven’t just dipped, they’ve plummeted. Not a single Ranger position player is worthy of a roster spot, certainly not starting vote. Last year, both Semien and Seager were subs. And last year’s All-Star snub, Josh Smith, is limping along at .261/.724 this season.

It’s obvious 2023 was a special season. So many Rangers had career years. The problem is, this year’s team was built on the 2023 model. And, as last year proved, that team isn’t coming back.

With every game the Rangers play, objects in the rearview mirror get further and further away. The only way a Rangers hitter makes it to the All-Star Game in Atlanta this year is by buying a ticket.
