Maybe the Mets figured this Mets Magic thing was real. Maybe they honestly thought they were invincible.
In the first game of the playoff series to get to the World Series, they start a guy in Game 1 who pitched five innings in the regular season. They figured they would give him three innings, then replace him with a reliever.
Like it was a spring training game in March.
Kodai Senga showed that he missed most of the season by missing most of the plate to almost every Dodgers hitter.
In the first, he walked the bases loaded with one out, then gave up a two-out, two-run single, and walked the first Dodger in the second inning.
He ended up facing ten batters, walking four of them, giving up hits to two, allowing three earned runs.
By the time the Mets got their first hit, they were already down 6-0 and no amount of magic or mojo or destiny or whatever they have been calling it could help them on their way to a 9-0 loss in which they managed just three singles.
