This is state of Rangers pitching. Rather than going with Austin Bibens-Dirkx, the Rangers went to the waiver heap and picked up Drew Hutchison.
He was drafted by the Blue Jays and pitched with them in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, unspectacularly.
Toronto released him. The Pirate picked him up. They released him. Then the Phillies picked him up this year and released him.
Then the Rangers came calling.
The Rangers are the halfway house for pithing. If you cannot pitch for any other organization, you can pitch for Texas. Give us your poor, your tired, your unable to find the strike zone.
Hutchison got through three innings, giving up six hits, three walks, and six runs.\
You know you’ve had a rough day when the person they decide to replace you with is Matt Moore.
Any time anyone thinks Matt Moore is a better alternative than you, you should probably start rethinking your career options.
Welcome to Texas, Drew Hutchison. Don’t make any long-term plans.
