You can never have enough pitching. Even when you have enough pitching.
One day after Tyler Mahle was scratched from his scheduled spring start due to forearm stiffness, Cody Bradford was scratched with elbow soreness.
Fortunately, his MRI came back clean. Maybe he will be lost for only one season. Sarcasm, of course, but Rangers fans have come to expect the worse.
According to TexasRangers.com, the Rangers will shut down Bradford for four to five days to clean everything up. A betting man might take the under on that. A Rangers fan would most likely take the over.
But, the same might have been said when Adolis Garcia went out with an oblique strain last week. He’s already back. So maybe the snake that has been biting this franchise for so long has moved elsewhere.
Bradford didn’t pitch a lot last season due to injury, but when he did, he was the Rangers best starter, with the lowest ERA in the rotation, at 3.54, and the highest ERA+ at 112, both stats better than Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi.
Fortunately for the Rangers, Kuman Rocker and Jack Leiter are waiting in the wings in case Mahle or Bradford miss significant time. Or, heaven forbid, anyone else in the rotation.
You can never have enough pitching.
