Rounding 3rd: Adolis García scores the winning run on a walk-off error.

Every so often, this team has flashes of—

Every so often, this team has flashes of—

Well, it’s not flashes of hope because hope would suggest a possible positive outcome.

And it’s not flashes of greatness because they usually have to overcome a huge hole they dug themselves into, and there’s nothing great about that.

Maybe it’s flashes of potential.

But their unlikely comeback yesterday after being down 4-0 matches their comeback in the final game of the Boston series.

Both avoided a series sweep, by the way.

And both games were punctuated by Adolis Garcia offense, which points out just how much he was missed this year as he struggled to find his stroke.

The Rangers overcame a 4-0 deficit with five runs in the seventh, then, after watching Kirby Yates blow his first save of the year, won it in the bottom of the tenth on a walk-off error.

The Rangers had potential this year. They rarely fulfilled it.
