The Hitless Wonders won again. Nathan Eovaldi tossed another gem, this one was six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and just three hits in what turned out to be a 2-0 win over the Giants.
The hapless Rangers offense scored twice, which was just enough. Joc Pederson, the poster boy for offensive ineptitude, drove in his first run of the season with a hit that squirted past the Giant’s second baseman. He’s on pace for 6 RBIs.
Marcus Semien went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .141. He tends to start slowly every season, holding a career .238 average in April. He’s not even close to slow this year.
Adolis Garcia is making the least of his contract year with an anemic .206 average. He will, however, hit an occasional game-winning home run. But not much else.
Texas held onto first place with their win over San Francisco. They’re going to need to keep getting stellar pitching if they want to have playoff hopes. Two runs a game is all they can expect to score.
