There is nobody Bruce Bochy can rely on in his bullpen. Like an old horror movie where the call is coming from inside the house, every time he picks up the bullpen phone, fear follows. Runs do too.
Josh Sborz, twelve earned runs in his last five appearances, spanning four innings of “work,” for a sparking 27.00 ERA.
Glenn Otto, twelve earned runs in his last five appearances, spanning 9.1 innings.
Aroldis Chapman, six earned runs in his last five appearances, spanning 3.2 innings.
Brock Burke, three earned runs over his last two innings.
Martin Perez, five earned runs over his last five appearances.
The Rangers bullpen lives with the lowlifes and drifters. Oakland, Kansas City, Chicago White Sox, Colorado, Washington, all last place teams, have relief ERAs in the same neighborhood as Texas.
It’s not a neighborhood anyone aspires to live in. It’s schedule for demolition at the end of the season. But, in the meantime, it’s doing the demolishing of the Rangers season.
Like Jason in the Friday the 13th movies, the monster cannot be stopped. It just keep killing and killing and killing the Rangers season.
