Forty games into the season—a quarter of the schedule—Joc Pederson hit is first home run.
He started out miserable. Embarrassingly bad. For a while Pederson was statistically the worst hitter in baseball.
But slowly, he is starting to come around.
Baseball-Reference breaks down a player’s stats for the past seven days, and past fourteen. It’s encouraging.
The last seven days, Pederson is hitting .333, with an on-base of .500 and an OPS of 1.167. Those are elite numbers. His last fourteen days: .258/.361/.877.
That’s a far cry from his low point in late-April where he was batting .052, with a pitiful .141 OBP and a .228 OPS.
He was really bad. The Rangers offense was really bad. If he can get back to being the elite hitter he was last year, the Rangers offense might start to find some life.
That, and if they can somehow keep Corey Seager in the lineup.
