Ohtani earning his money.

Shoehei Ohtani blasts a three-run homer to punctuate the Dodgers 8-0 win over the Mets in Game 3.

Shohei Ohtani has seventeen hits in this last twenty at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Talk about a clutch hitter. It’s pretty amazing when you think about it.

First, he became the first player to start as both a pitcher and a hitter in the same season. (Babe Ruth, of course, excelled at both, but never in the same season. He was a Hall of Fame pitcher first, then transitioned into a Hall of Fame hitter).

Then, he became the first person to hit fifty home runs and steal fifty bases in one season.

Now, he is in a stretch of being the best clutch hitter in postseason history.

Amazing.

He’s already won two MVPs and will most likely win his third this year, in a year he didn’t pitch.

One can debate whether he’s worth the average of $70 million a year he’s getting. But one thing is for sure. He is earning everything they are paying him.
