Rangers drop opener 5-3.

Josh Jung connects for a two-run homer to tie the game at 3-3.

What happens when a team that cannot hit goes into a ballpark where offense is rare?

It’s not a riddle. It’s the Rangers going to Seattle.

Texas has been shut out five times in the last fourteen games they have played in Seattle. So, when they left the bases loaded in the first without scoring, you kind of knew it was going to be one of those nights.

Then Josh Jung tied it with a two-run homer in the sixth and you got your hopes up. But three runs is a lot for the Rangers and it’s a boatload to score in Seattle. And, it turns out, that was all the Rangers were going to get.

This is the fifth series the Rangers have played. They’ve lost the first game in four of the five.

Seattle. First game of a series. Offensively challenged. It all conspired on a 5-3 loss to the Mariners, the only team in baseball to never play in a World Series.
