Every time the Rangers gain a little momentum, reality sets in. And they get a spanking like the Arizona Diamondbacks administered on them in a 6-0 shutout loss.
The Diamondbacks are rolling. Their offense has been clicking lately, they’ve worked themselves into wild card contention, which, as every Rangers fans knows, catapulted them to the World Series last year.
It was a typical Rangers game. They could muster only three hits, all singles. Other than a minor threat in the first when they had two runners on via a hit and a walk, and again in the sixth, the Rangers went down meekly, and never really came close to scoring.
Once again, the Rangers fall to five games under.500 with seventeen games left. They would have to go 11-6 to get back to .500.
With all the new rules in baseball, it is increasingly harder to win games these days when you do not score a run.
