The Rangers aren’t even being dramatic about it. There’s no surprise. Their games are over early.
Friday, they gave up four runs in the first. Yesterday, four in the second. They lost both games before the crowd really had time to settle in.
Two things are obvious. The Baltimore Orioles are a much better team than the Texas Rangers. And the Texas Rangers are not capable of making a playoff run.
When they needed their aces to step up, both Nathan Eovaldi and Max Scherzer dropped the meat in the dirt. In the process, the Rangers have lost two games off the divisional standings to Houston.
Now they need Andrew Heaney, with his 3-10 record, to step up and prevent the Rangers from being swept.
They are 0-2 in their thirteen-game stretch to show what they are made of. They are showing it loud and clear. It’s not enough.
To quote Yogi Berra, it’s getting late early. It’s almost too late for the Rangers to pull this out.
