Tiny George Mason University landed in the record books in a huge way on Tuesday.
This was their second inning.

George Mason scored twenty-three runs off George Washington University in the bottom of the second inning.
What a linescore: 23 runs, 11 hits, 8 walks, four hit batters, three errors.
That broke the NCAA record for runs in an inning, which had been 21. The record for most runs in an inning in a major league game is 17, set by the Boston Red Sox in 1953.
Interestingly enough, the same batter, Jake Butler, made the first out of the inning and the last. He ended up batting four times that inning, getting hit by a pitch the other two times.
Twenty-three runs in one inning. And Tanner Scheppers was nowhere in sight.
