The cast on Saturday Night Live used to be called The Not Ready For Prime Time players.
That might be a good moniker for Kumar Rocker. He’s not ready. He gave up six earned runs on seven hits and two walks in just three innings. That he made it out of the second inning was a miracle. He threw forty pitches.
It was a slight improvement over his first few starts in spring training where he was giving up four runs per inning. Last night, he gave up only three runs per inning.
He looked overmatched and scared. He couldn’t find his command and couldn’t figure out a way to put out Reds hitters. Cincinnati scored three runs before they got an out. He left the game after three innings with his team in the hole 6-0. Gerson Garabito dug it deeper. In the end, the Reds beat the Rangers 14-3.
At least there’s upside for Rocker. He can’t get much worse.
Maybe he’s not ready.
