Seagerless Rangers fall to Oakland.

Nathaniel Lowe connects for his 11th homer of the season.

It was Corey Seager Silver Slugger Bobblehead night. Corey Seager didn’t play.

Could there be any more Rangeresque than last night’s game? The Rangers managed only two runs in a sloppy 9-2 loss to the Athletics.

In the second half of the season, Seager has been in beast mode, with an OPS of .937. By comparison, Marcus Semien’s second-half OPS is a lackluster .697. Adolis Garcia: .660. Wyatt Langford: .621. Jonah Heim’s OPS is about what you’d expect a pitcher’s to be, .526, and that’s why pitchers no longer hit.

Even Josh Smith, the savior, has seen his OPS fall in the second half. Actually, plunge off the side of the Grand Canyon would be a better descriptor. His first-half OPS was .861. Second half: A Heim-like .560.

Only Nathaniel Lowe’s second-half OPS improved, and not by much, from .720 to .732.

A season that has been offensively challenged has only gotten worse in the second half. Much worse.

Yes, Corey Seager needs days off. And when he gets them, it is almost impossible for the Rangers to score more than one or two runs.

Yesterday, they got a home run for Lowe to score their first run, and it took a throwing error by Oakland to score their second and final run.

Yes, Corey Seager needs days off. But did it have to be on Corey Seager Bobblehead Day?
