Thank God it’s the Chicago White Sox. They are one of the few teams that scores fewer runs than Texas.
For the second straight game, the White Sox scored one run fewer. That makes it three straight victories for the Rangers. All by one run.
With last night’s loss, the White Sox are now on pace to lose 120 games, which would tie the 1962 New York Mets for most losses in the 162-game era. The Rangers hit the White Sox in the schedule at just the right time.
The Rangers jumped on Chicago ace Garrett Crochet for two first-inning runs, punctuated by a Josh Smith steal of home on the front end of a double steal.
Jon Gray found the form that he had earlier in the season and that had eluded him in his last half-dozen starts, going 7.2 innings.
The Rangers took a 3-1 lead into the ninth, then held on to a 3-2 victory to take the first two of the four games against the White Sox.
Combine that with both Seattle and Houston losing again, and suddenly this team is only three games out.
