The future of America. One man’s opinion.

NOTE: This is normally a Texas Rangers blog but this topic is too important.

Well, that happened. And, now, like it or not, we all have to come together and live with the America we are left with, and the consequences that go with it.

There has been a lot of agony, anguish, and handwringing about America and the direction of the future. Yes, things didn’t work out the way many of us wanted it to. And, yes, there is fear in the uncertainty.

And there are questions.

What does it all mean?

Where do we go from here?

Will The Border crisis get resolved?

What happened Thursday night proved a lot of things. But I am here to suggest that America will be okay.

Yes, co-founder and lead singer Gerry Beckley’s surprise announcement that he has retired from the band came as a shock to many people, but co-founder and lead singer Dewey Bunnell is still with America, and they sound just as good as ever in concert when I saw them Thursday night in Dallas.

Dewey Bunnell took over lead vocals on “You Can Do Magic” and it was wonderful. They played all of Gerry Beckley’s hits, in fact, like “Sister Golden Hair,” “I Need You,” “Daisy Jane,” and “Here.” They sounded just as amazing as always.

And “The Border” sounded better than it’s ever sounded. Crisis resolved.

So, fear not. There is great change in America, but it will survive.
