In place of the American League playoff game, TBS decided to air a Little League game.
It was vintage Little League. Walks and wild pitches. Walks and wild pitches.
That first year where the kids are pitching, that’s the game of Little League. A kid walks. He’s wild pitched to second. Wild pitched to third. Wild pitched home. That kid walks. He’s wild pitched to second, to third, then home.
In the third inning, the Little Leaguer from Cleveland, bases loaded on three walks. Then a wild pitch allowed one run to score. Then that batter was walked to load the bases again. And another wild pitch brought in another run.
In the next inning, two walks and two more wild pitch put runners at second and third. The fourth run of the game scampered home on a sacrifice fly.
The team from New York won 5-2 on the strength of the three Little League runs gifted them.
Afterward, one of the team moms brought them orange slices and juice boxes and they went home to play video games.
There’s nothing like the innocence and joy of Little League baseball.
