Lost in the devastating news about Adrian Beltre being done for the season was the news that the Rangers traded for a new pitcher at the waiver deadline.

Miguel Gonzalez is now a Ranger, coming over from the White Sox. He is a right-handed starter with a career 3.88 ERA who is having a 7-12 season with a 4.31 ERA. But in his last five starts he’s 2-0 with a 1.85 ERA. One of the games was against the Ranger.

He doesn’t have overpowering stuff, he’s not a strikeout pitcher. He mainly relies on a 92 mile-per-hour four-seam fastball, which he throws about forty percent of the time. He also throws a splitter, slider, sinker, and curve.

Gonzalez is a free agent at the end of the season, so he will start about five games as a Ranger before moving on. Rangers fans will hardly get a chance to know him.

His lifetime record is 51-51.

Miguel Gonzalez is the ideal .500 pitcher for a .500 team.
