There will be a Game 7. Seattle at Toronto. Unless you’re a fan of the Mariner, this is what every baseball fans wanted—a winner-take-all elimination game. Every pitch, every hit, every baserunner is crucial.
It’s been a wonderful series, as playoff baseball usually is. Teams that can hit and manufacture runs, teams that can pitch.
George Kirby goes tonight for Seattle. All he has to do is envision the Blue Jays are the Rangers, and he will be fine. Kirby, you will recall in your deepest nightmares, is 8-0 lifetime against Texas with a 1.04 ERA. He’s 0-1 with a 7.07 ERA this postseason (which speaks volumes for how far the Rangers are from belonging in this elite class).
The Blue Jays counter with Shane Bieber, a former Cy Young winner who had Tommy John surgery and who, rather than deal with picking up his player option, the Guardians dealt to Toronto at the deadline. Bieber didn’t pitch this season until late August. He had only seven starts in 2025.
Seattle tries to exorcise the demons of being the only team in baseball to never have been in the World Series. Coincidentally, both Seattle and Toronto were the two expansion franchises of 1977.
One will be moving on after tonight.
