So many walks. So few runs.

The 60s surf band The Ventures had a huge hit called Walk Don’t Run in 1960. It should be the Rangers theme song. Last night they walked nine Phillies. And they ran one one of their baserunners across home plate, stranding ten runners on base in a 9-1 loss to Philadelphia.

After the game, Rangers’ manager Bruce Bochy said, “We had some chances, we had some men on base, we just couldn’t get that one more hit to keep things going.”

He has had a lot of practice saying that. And will have a lot of opportunities in the season’s final seven seeks to say it again.

Josh Jung, moved up to the fifth spot, drove in the Rangers only run in the first, after two were on base. That rally ended as most rallies do, with Adolis Garcia at bat.

They had bases loaded in the fifth. Wyatt Langford couldn’t come through.

They usually reliable Kyle Higoshioka  couldn’t convert a two-out double in the sixth.

When the Phillies piled on for five runs in the top of the ninth to make it 9-1, the Rangers offense didn’t have a chance. Even if it wanted to.
