Rangers play Astros, Mariners play Braves.

Merrill Kelly gets the ball tonight against a struggling Astros team.

The Rangers return home for six games against two division leaders, three against Houston and three against Milwaukee.

It’s playoff-caliber baseball with a roster that has been getting by on smoke and mirrors due to injuries.

Texas plays well at home and Houston has been struggling to score runs. And after their amazing fifteen-game winning streak, Milwaukee is 8-10.

So, this isn’t as daunting of a task as it seems. And anyway, the goal isn’t to catch the Astros. It’s not to make a statement against the Brewers. It’s to win three more games in the final twenty-one than the Seattle Mariners. (They need to be one game ahead of Seattle since Seattle owns the tie breaker against Texas.)

The Mariners next six are three against the Braves and three against the Cardinals.

Let the scoreboard watching begin.
