Failure.

Will Bruce Bochy return in 2026?

Six games left. Other than possibly having a say in whether the Astros make the playoffs, there’s really nothing the Rangers have to play for. Getting to .500? At this point, what does it matter?

Their final home stand is three uneventful games in a largely forgettable season.

There’s really no reason for Corey Seager or Marcus Semin to come back. The Rangers proved they could win games without them. And lose games without them.

But it’s also not like there are young kids who need a chance to prove themselves. They’ve already been called up and already shown what they can do.

There are no milestones to accomplish. No goals the fulfil. And it’s not like the future is hopeless, as it was back in the Chris Woodward/Jon Daniles days.

It was simply a season of failure. Failure isn’t a team losing 100 games. That’s ineptitude. That’s understandable. That’s expected.

Failure is a team that should have been good but wasn’t. Failure is a team that didn’t execute when it had its chances. Failure is a team that left wins on the table.

Failure is disappointment.
