Injuries.

In the “Who Didn’t See This Coming” category, it appears Josh Jung will be out much longer than originally announced

He injured his calf the first day of spring training and the Rangers announced he’d miss two to three weeks. Bruce Bochy announced yesterday that Jung isn’t ready to run yet. He could miss opening day.

If that’s the case, three of the four Rangers infielders will not be ready for the first game of the season. Corey Seager is still recovering from his hernia operation in January. And Nathanial Lowe has a right oblique strain. He won’t play again this spring.

Guys like Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith, Matt Duffy, and Jared Walsh are going to be counted on early.
