Rangers figure out closer problem.

Rangers shortstop Ezequiel Duran connects for a two-run homer.

The Rangers finally have a closer.

It’s a nine-run lead.

If they can just go into each game with a nine-run lead in the last inning, their bullpen woes are solved.

Of course, even a nine-run lead isn’t a lock. Jose Leclerc gave up a monster home run with one out to cut the lead to eight.

Let’s be honest. At that moment, how many Rangers fans said to themselves, “Uh oh, he’s just two grand slams away from coughing up this lead”?

And how many Rangers fans thought he sincerely had a chance to do that?

The best closer is a seventeen-hit, sixteen run offense.

The best closer is not needing a closer.
