Rangers offense reverts.

Marcus Semien keeps his hot streak going with a solo HR in the second.

After winning three in a row, the Rangers reverted to their usual low-scoring offense, mustering just two runs against a Twins starter with a 5.40 ERA who gave up eight earned runs in just three innings his last start.

They scored a run in the second and a run in the third, then went into characteristic Rangers-mode, going down one-two-three in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. They did manage two runners in the eighth with no outs but came out of it with no runs and stranded a runner at second in the ninth.

And just like that the three-game winning streak came to an end.

Evan Carter had his third straight multi-hit game. Josh Smith seems to be out of his May funk. And Marcus Semien is still blazing. But there wasn’t enough sustained offense. Just a trickle here and a trickle there.

Today’s game will be huge for the Rangers psyche. Was yesterday an unfortunate blip in their turnaround? Or was it the Rangers going back to who they really are?
