Corey Seager got a hit last night. That used to not be cause for celebration. Or even cause for needing to be written. But right now he is going through a long, sustained slump. In the nineteen games since he came back from his second pulled hamstring, Seager is batting .147 with one home run and three RBIs.
Look, everybody’s human. Players go through this, even possible Hall of Famers like Seager. But what makes no sense is why he is still batting third. When Marcus Semien was going through his struggles, he was dropped to ninth. Adolis Garcia was dropped to eighth. Same with Josh Jung, who’s still lost.
But Seager is still batting third, killing rallies in the most important spot in the lineup.
There’s no doubt Seager will find his stroke again and start being the dominating hitter he’s always been. That’s never been a question. But until he does, shouldn’t he been looking for his stroke somewhere far down the lineup?
