Rangers unable to cash in on gift. 54 comments

Isiah Kiner-Falefa ties it in the seventh, but it was all the runs the Rangers could muster.

Thank you, pitch count baseball.

Thank you for giving the Rangers a fighting chance they didn’t deserve.

Wade LeBlanc was dominating. Allowing just one hit through the first six.

Then he committed the cardinal sin in baseball. Allowing a hit after the sixth inning.

So, naturally, the foolish manager of the Mariners pulled his starter. In his defense, the guy had thrown a whopping 82 pitches. In one night.

The engineers at NASA have never calculated a number that high. 82. Wow.

Pitch count baseball, philanthropist it is, gave the Rangers a chance. And they took advantage of it, scoring three runs the very instant the starter was removed, to tie the game.

Unfortunately, the Mariners are better than the Rangers in every aspect. And Texas couldn’t take advantage of the gift they were given.

The Rangers lost 4-3 in twelve innings.

But pitch count baseball gave Rangers fans hope. And three innings for free.

How the Mariners hit against Colon.
How the Rangers hit against Hernandez.

Right on Midol. How the game is changing.
I believe the time is right for the Rangers to do an experiment. Game plan for every pitcher on the roster to pitch 3 innings only. No more no less. Time to get away from having starters who are expected to go deep into games. Doesn’t really happen anymore anyway. Lets go with everyone on the staff is a reliever. Doesn’t matter who starts, who gets the win, who closes, just do your three innings. This is what I see baseball evolving into

    • dearmidol

      I totally see that happening.

LeBlanc’s face in the dugout said it all. Talk about demoralizing. Pitchers aren’t being stretched out any more. They’re being shrunk.

    • Gregor_S

Even Grieve and Raymond talked about how LeBlanc’s unhappiness was understandable, which they’d never say when Banny does something similar.

Over 400 wins between these two pitchers…..fast ball finally wore the King down

  • TD30

    Good job Roooooggggiiiieeee!

    • JacobMcCandles

Some were complaining about his lack of power….but once you gain patience and walking more…pitchers will come to you……truly a remarkable turnaround

      • elkaba

I’ve said for years that the slumps the power hitters go through are a lot shorter when they go back to just trying to make contact. Once they get that timing and connection down the power comes back all by itself.

I couldn’t wait to watch this game to see if Bartolo would get his win, and right before it started, my brother called about details of the party. I missed so much of it! Bummer! And now I still have a cake to frost. 😩

        • elkaba

          That’s nuts!

          • dearmidol

It’s insane how expensive tickets are here.

          • JacobMcCandles

            $20.00 for a cheeseburger

        • GoRangers23

          Good grief!

        • TD30

          Damn!

        • Nathan Whitten

I can’t believe that the Rangers allow glorified ticket scalpers to be a sponsor. It’s illegal in most states to sell tickets over face value. But in Texas, we make it a “respectable business.” Yeah, about like bail bondsmen and pimps. Even if I had the money, I would never patronize such a rip-off business. The grab all the best seats. Triple or more the price. Sell to rich man. What a way to make a living. They should be jailed.

    • Nathan Whitten

I hope that those devious bartenders don’t overserve you so badly this time 🙂

  • elkaba

    Happy for Bartolo!

  • GoRangers23

    Go Bartolo!! Congratulations!
