Rangers unable to cash in on gift. 54 comments

Isiah Kiner-Falefa ties it in the seventh, but it was all the runs the Rangers could muster.

Thank you, pitch count baseball.

Thank you for giving the Rangers a fighting chance they didn’t deserve.

Wade LeBlanc was dominating. Allowing just one hit through the first six.

Then he committed the cardinal sin in baseball. Allowing a hit after the sixth inning.

So, naturally, the foolish manager of the Mariners pulled his starter. In his defense, the guy had thrown a whopping 82 pitches. In one night.

The engineers at NASA have never calculated a number that high. 82. Wow.

Pitch count baseball, philanthropist it is, gave the Rangers a chance. And they took advantage of it, scoring three runs the very instant the starter was removed, to tie the game.

Unfortunately, the Mariners are better than the Rangers in every aspect. And Texas couldn’t take advantage of the gift they were given.

The Rangers lost 4-3 in twelve innings.

But pitch count baseball gave Rangers fans hope. And three innings for free.
