Thanks to Houston, the Rangers crafted their first four-game winning streak of the season, beating up on Dallas Keuchel and the Astros 7-4 on the same night Jake Arrieta of the Cubs no hit the Reds. Unfortunately the four-game winning streak would be followed by a four-game losing streak. The Rangers, it seems, cannot play the Astros every night.

Last year’s American League Cy Young award winner threw a thirteen-hitter last night against Texas, allowing a three-game sweep over the cross-state rival Houston Astros 7-4.

Since the Astros moved to the American League West, the Rangers have swept nine of the nineteen series they have played.

It’s a trend Rangers fans can get used to.

Ian Desmond’s power finally showed up last night, hitting a three-run homer in the first and a double in the third. While he got a few soft hits earlier in the series, it was nice to see him hit a fastball hard. Twice.

That’s a trend Ranges fans can get used to as well.
