40-man: Brett Martin.

A continuing look at the Rangers 40-man roster.

BRETT MARTIN
Age: 25
Left-Handed Pitcher

Texas selected the lefty Brett Martin in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He worked his way up to the major leagues in 2019, establishing himself as a key member of the Rangers bullpen and a go-to guy for manager Chris Woodward.

He got into fifteen games in 2020, with an ERA of just 1.84 and an impressively low WHIP as well, 1.159.

His main pitch is his 88-mile-per-hour slider and a four-seam fastball that sits at 94 miles-per-hour.

Barring anything weird or unfortunate, Martin will be in the Rangers bullpen in 2021 and will probably become a legitimate candidate for the team’s closer role.
