Any fan of baseball has to appreciate the way the Blue Jays play the game.
It’s all about making contact. Eliminating the strikeout. Putting the ball in play and seeing what happens. It’s the opposite of the Rangers approach the past two seasons.
And it helped them overcome a juggernaut New York Yankees team led by Aaron Judge who seemed to hit the ball hard every time, and who seemed to be up every inning.
But the story is Toronto, who goes to the Championship Series for the first time since knocking the Rangers out of the playoffs in 2015 and 2016. They struck out only six times in the game. Three of those were their final four outs. The Rangers usually have six strikeouts in the third inning.
All we can do as Rangers fans is hope that Chris Young is taking notes and, better yet, knows how to apply those notes. Because the Blue Jays are light years better then the Rangers on offense.
That’s why they are one step away from the World Series.
