A Crismatt gift.

The Rangers close out the 2025 offseason about the same way they played the 2025 season. With a whimper.

They signed right-handed reliever Nabil Crismatt. It’s a minor league deal, meaning they don’t think enough of him to take up a spot n the 40-man roster, and meaning Nabil Crismatt must not have gotten any better offers so he accepted minor league contract.

Ironically, Crismatt turned thirty-one on Christmas. This is his second go-around with the Rangers, having pitched for Triple-A Round Rock in 2024, appearing in eleven innings over eight games, with an 8.84 ERA before being released. Crismatt has logged thirteen years in the minor leagues, and parts of six seasons in the major leagues, mostly in the pen but with some starts.

Most recently, Crismatt finished the season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he was 3-0 with a 3.71 ERA in eight appearances, five as a starter. That 3.71 happens to be his career ERA in the major leagues as well, having pitched for the Dodgers Padres, and Cardinals.

Crismatt’s most notable outing of 2025 with a quality start against the Rangers in a game in early September in which he allowed just two earned runs in 6.1 innings of work. He got a no decision, leaving in the seventh with a two-to-two tie, in a game Arizona would eventually win 5-3.

It’s not a splashy transaction. But it’s something.
