The Rangers seem to own the Astros in much the same way. It’s a domination that has always existed but really started once the Astros joined the American League West.

In the twelve seasons of inter-league play before the Astros joined the A.L., Texas was 42–30 against Houston, an impressive .583 winning percentage.

But since 2013, Houston’s first year in the American League, the Rangers have pretty much owned the Astros to the tune of 43–19. That’s a dominating .693 winning percentage.

The Rangers beat the Astros nearly seventy percent of the time.  The Generals lost by design. The Astros lose simply by playing. In fact, if the Rangers played only the Astros, they would go 112–50 on the season. Houston is Texas’s Guaranteed Win Night opponent.

Last night’s 2-1 victory over Houston made it five out of five this year. Today the Rangers go for a sweep, which would be the second of the season against the Astros.
