A really nice win. 245 comments

Elvis Andrus’s double sparked the Rangers offense, coming back from a four-run deficit off the wild card leading Yankees.

Maybe this Rangers team has actually figured it out, whatever it is.

Yesterday’s game was the kind they would normally have lost, getting in a hole early and never clawing back from.

Martin Perez wasn’t great, but his offense bailed him out once again, roaring back from a 4-0 deficit to win 11-5.

Elvis Andrus, on the other hand, was great. And has been for a while. Three hits yesterday, four Wednesday, batting nearly .400 and driving in seventeen runs in the last two weeks.

He is carrying the team on his shoulders, stepping up not just one notch but about four since Beltre went down.

He’s already set career-highs in doubles, home runs, RBIs, batting average, OPS. And he will certainly break his career marks in hits and runs scored.

One really hot hitter can carry a team. And right now that’s Elvis Andrus.

Whether it’s enough to carry them out of the huge hole they buried themselves in remains to be seen. But it’s fun to watch.
