Looking at the position-by-position comparison of the Rangers against the rest of the teams in the American League West has, so far, been bleak. But that’s only because the Ranger had the worst infield and catching in baseball last year, offensively.
But left field is a different story. Take Joey Gallo, Willie Calhoun, Hunter Pence, even dashes of Shin-Soo Choo, and left field was a position of strength for the Rangers.
Willie Calhoun played the bulk of left field, 71 games. Choo, 40. Gallo, 28. Pence, 16.
They combined for the best offensive production in the A.L. West among left fielders.
Calhoun was left off the opening day roster, eventually called back up, then suddenly dropped after a few weeks even though he was one of the few batters producing, then reluctantly brought up when Joey Gallo went down.
All he did was lead the best left field in the division:
Left field is a position of strength the Texas going into 2020. But, just in case, here are the top free agent left fielders:
Brett Gardner
Marcell Ozuna
Alex Gordon
Corey Dickerson

Tomorrow, center field.
