Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor’s home run was about the only damage Texas could do to Seattle’s under-rated ace Hishasi Iwakuma.

This one went down to the last pitch.

With the Rangers down 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the Rangers just needed a base runner to get it going.

Mariners closer Carson Smith got to 3-0 on Prince Fielder, but battled back to get him to ground a ball into the shift for an out.

Adrian Beltre struck out on a mighty swing.

And, with two outs,  Mitch Moreland got ahead 3-0. Then he took a couple of strikes. Finally, Smith got him to ground out to first.

And with that the Rangers five-game winning streak was over. But it took a dominating performance by Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma to smother them. They didn’t go down easy.

Yes, it’s too bad the Rangers lost. But they are not going to win every game. Five in a row is pretty good, especially this late in the season.

The amazing thing is, it’s the middle of August, and every pitch matters. (Think back to where this team was last year at this time.)

This is great. This is how it’s supposed to be.

Every pitch matters.

This is fun.
